If you blinked you missed it, the Great British summer that is. The leaves are dropping the nights are closing in and it’s getting even colder.
We’ve decided that due to our successful summer sale we would take some edge off the depressing weather by permanently lowering our prices. Everything still comes with free delivery and we’ll still do our best to beat any like-for-like price.

Initially we were only going to run the sale for around a month but due to demand we decided to continue the sale for the rest of the summer. This means for the last two months we´ve had a massive 20% off our already low prices.
Not to worry though. We´ve decided to permanently lower our prices on everything throughout our site and we still offer free delivery on everything.

We´ve extended our July sale to run throughout August. The reason we´ve done this is due to a small error with the way Internet Explorer 6 has been displaying our sale items. This means we feel it fair to extend the sale to give users of IE6 a further chance to enjoy our sale prices.
You see people, this is why we hate Internet Explorer 6...upgrade PLEASE!
Unfortunately there will be no one available to take phone calls or reply to email messages from the afternoon of Monday 28th through to the afternoon of Wednesday 30th. Orders will still be processed and any items due to be posted won´t be delayed. As a family ran business we don´t have the manpower to avoid this, apologies to anyone trying to get in contact with us.
Here it is, it´s big and our first ever. It´s our first ever sale, now live on the site and includes ALL furniture we sell. We´ve never been a fan of sales as sales can be used year round giving the false impression that the customer is getting something cheaper, when in fact it´s the same price (large sofa company for example, when do they ever NOT have a sale). Other sales with ridicules percentages (save 70%) means for the rest of the year you´re getting ripped off whilst the retailer get massive profit percentages.

The much anticipated Firefox 3 web browser has finally been released today, if you haven´t already downloaded it what are you waiting for? Get over to the download page and join the revolution.
Firefox is quicker, safer and supports all the latest features essential to modern web design. We can´t understand why some of you are still using decade old software on your computer, if you´re big on Explorer then at least upgrade to the latest version 7.
(Oh did I mention that the small layout problem we had with the RC3 version of FF3 is now fixed? Well it is, and Fun Kids Rooms looks est on Firefox.)
OK we know it´s taken us forever to get this sorted and we´d love to give you all sorts of complicated reasons and talk about how “computers” broke...but it´s done. PayPal is now fully integrated with our site and is now a full payment option offering an alternative to Google Checkout.
PayPal is quick and easy to send money; you can even link your bank account and send money directly. As with Google Checkout PayPal is totally secure and offer an anti-fraud guarantee, it´s so secure we don´t even get to see your card details.
We´ve been looking at our visitor statistics and have noticed some of your eager beavers are using the latest Firefox 3 (RC1) web browser. Firefox has been by far our favourite browser for some years now (tut tut all you Internet Explorer users) and offers many advantages to designers and casual web browsers (this means you).
However, we´ve noticed that our site layout is a little cockeyed when viewed with FF 3 with the main content column sitting too low on the page. Well don´t panic Mozilla faithful as soon as the final version of FF3 is released we´ll have that fixed, if not sooner.
We strongly encourage all people to have Firefox installed on their computer; it´s quicker, more secure and better in many, many ways. You can still run the slow, insecure Internet Explorer simultaneously if you wish but trust us once you go Firefox you won´t use Internet Explorer again. Download Firefox free here.
And for all you people still using Internet Explorer we beg you at least update to version 7, it costs nothing and considerably helps with our design and usability of the website. Older versions of Internet Explorer are quite simply archaic and if you want to see the internet grow and develop you have to update your now decade old browsers. Upgrade to Internet Explorer here.
OK folks just a quick update regarding our long suffering shopping basket issue. The latest version of the basket has been released promising to fix the small issues we´ve had with the early beta versions. After re-instating the shopping basket and running our own extensive testing we found that although many issues have been resolved the basket is still having problems remembering what you´ve added to it.
Crazy we know, however this means we´re still going to wait for the final release before committing to use it once again. The only issue with the basket (for those technically minded) is its cookie path. This means when you add an item to the basket and move away from the page (domain level) the basket shows empty. Although perfectly safe in terms of security (payment is dealt with separately) it´s clear that at present the basket is of little use.
We´ll be monitoring its progress and working with the developers to help finally get a basket on the site.
Congratulations to Wall-Tastics´ Julian and Co who attended the recently held Business Start Up Show on 25th-26th April at the Excel in London, where they won Innovator of the Show 2008 supported by Business Start Up and The Midas Touch.
Wall-Tastic have just announced that they´re working on new and exciting designs and it shouldn´t be too long until we have a new fantastic design in the range.
UPDATE: We´ve just been told that the latest design being worked on is based around a cars theme, ideal for all those “boy/girl racers” out there! We expect the cars theme to race onto our website within the next few months.
We´re still working on an improved shopping cart system that should make shopping with us even better. The shopping cart comes from our merchant supplier and as the cart is new they´re still finalising some features, meaning we´re waiting for them to release the final version.
As soon as the final version is released we´ll implement it on out site. The shopping cart we´ve tested so far is a great improvement over our current “one item at a time” system and we can´t wait to get the finished version working online.
As we haven´t had an update in a while I thought I should keep everyone informed to what we´re working on.
We´ve been working and experimenting with a new shopping cart which will make adding products to a single basket easy and intuitive. The advantage to the basket is that you can carry on shopping throughout the site whilst adding multiple items, you also get a running total of your basket.
We´re still experiencing a few minor issues with the cart so as present it´s not a live feature of the site. As soon as these small issues have been fixed we´ll be including the cart, until then you can still use the simple “on screen” ordering system. We´ve started adding some of the wonderful WallCANDY items from Wallies.
All WallCANDY items simply require peeling from their backing and applying to the wall, no paste, no cutting; NO MESS! All Wallies items are die cut (meaning they have no backing surround) and can be applied to walls, furniture and even glass.
We´ll be adding many more Wallies items, including the rest of the WallCANDY range, over the next week so keep your eyes peeled to catch these wonderful designs.

We´ve just added a brand new way to contact us that´s quick and easy along with being free to use.
Using the Live Chat feature is really easy, just click the speech bubble to start a chat conversation. This new feature requires someone from the Fun Kids Rooms team to be logged in before you can send and receive messages, a green light next to our name means someone´s online and will be available to help you.
You don´t need to install anything and all conversations are kept private and confidential. We hope you enjoy using this new feature.
We´ve added the latest themed mid sleeper beds from Thuka.
There are three exciting themes to choice from; Digger, Pirate Ship and Princess House. All themed beds are made to the same high standards as the rest of Thuka furniture and offer the ultimate in play beds.
Each mid sleeper has the sleeping platform lowered slightly which provides a larger play environment surrounding the bed.

We´ve just finished added the Maxi White range of kids modular beds from Thuka. The White range of beds feature the same modular design as the standard Maxi range only have a cool and sophisticated whitewashed see-thru finish.
The Maxi White range features seven beds, ranging from mid sleepers with massive amounts of storage, wonderful play mid sleepers with tents and slides, right through to high sleepers any teenager would love to call their own.

As part of our continual improvement of our website we decided that a change in navigation would help people find what they´re looking for easier.
We´ve now improved the "Beds" navigation and added several related sub categories. We´ve now included single beds, double beds, mid sleeper beds, bunk beds and high sleeper beds and we feel finding the type of bed you´re after is easier than ever.
Our range of Thuka Maxi beds is finally complete. We´re now showing the entire (standard) range of Maxi beds (Maxi 1 - Maxi 29).
We´ll be continually adding new Thuka furniture over the next week or two, so keep your eyes peeled for some amazing new designs, including the Maxi White (whitewashed finished) and plenty of new and exciting designs!

We´ve added two more designs to our Wall-Tastic collection.
Sea Adventure is a wonderful underwater world of fish, sunken ship wrecks and hidden treasure. Kids love to dive in and swim with the mermaids, watch out for the sharks and killer whales though!
Space City is an exciting design crammed full of aliens battling it out in a futuristic city. Grab your laser gun and join the fun with this design.
We´ve just added two fantastic designs from the Wall-Tastic range of kids wallpaper frieze. One design features fantastic a pre-historic setting with loads of dinosaurs to find. The other is aimed at younger children and features 12 well known nursery rhymes to find and learn.

The news page is now in keeping with our other updated "information pages" style and layout. The news page is now similar to the way the Decorating Ideas section is laid with a new universal styling.
We wanted to keep our shop slightly separate from our information pages and as such we´re going through all our existing "information" pages and updated their layout and style a little. We hope you like the new look, feedback (good and bad) is always appreciated.
We´ve just finished styling our decorating ideas section and we now think it now looks fantastic. Our aim is to regularly update this section and improve existing content. When we add new topics or sections news of the update will appear hear first.
We want to hear from you! If you´ve got a decorating project let us know we´d love to share it with everyone else.
If you still use older versions of Internet Explorer (verison 6) then you would have noticed a problem with the site layout. We're happy to say this has now been fixed. If you still experiance unusual layout problems please let us know.
We´ve added a new decorating project to our "Boys Themed Bedrooms" in our Decorating Ideas section. The new project can help with ideas to create a Train themed bedroom for your little train lover.
We want to hear from people who use PayPal and would like us to offer this as a form of payment in the future. We aim to offer several methods to pay, as the site is new we currently use Google Checkout.

Today the new site went live and all available pages are now viewable. New content along with additional stlying and features will continue to be added.
We're adding the finishing touches to our information pages. Once this is complete we can get on with adding the content/products. Please bear with us we're not a large company with a team of people working on the site.
Also today we've noticed we're getting our new pages indexed in search engines, you shouldn't be able to see these pages yet but if you can welcome - normal service will resume shortly.
