To start with our aim is for this page to never be viewed. We want our site to be friendly, easy to read and simple to operate. If you’re here we’re failing, please contact us to let us know how we can improve the site or our service.
As the site is new we thought we should explain the layout along with a demonstration finding products and hopefully how to buy something from us. Let’s start with the layout of the site.
Our new layout has been designed to be user-friendly and make finding what you want simple and intuitive. Let’s start with the top of the website, found at the top of every page which never changes, containing our logo and main site navigation across the top.
Our logo is on every page and can be clicked to return you to our homepage from anywhere on the site. Along with the logo is the sites main navigation. This never changes and links to important information, the links are self descriptive (after all you clicked help to get here!).
The navigation pane changes depending where you are in our site and what content you´re looking at. Don´t worry it´s very simple, we´ll explain;
As the website contains both shop items and information sections we thought we would split the two. All shop/item navigation will show to the left of the screen and when looking at a non-shop/item related page we´ve replaced the shop navigation in place of content.
All our items can be accessed quickly from the navigation pane to the left of every (shop) page. If the product navigation isn´t there (as on this page) then you´re looking at some of our pages where we´re not trying to sell anything, to show the product navigation click the home link.
The navigation pane is split into three main ways to find what you´re looking for; this means there´s more than one way to find what you´re after. Starting at the top you can see "Shop by, Collection" and then a drop down menu. This drop down menu contains a list of every item name we sell; by selecting one you will be taken straight to the page with that item on. Below is "Shop by, Category". This list expands to show more related categories helping you find what you want easier. The third list is "Shop by, Brand" for when you know what you´re looking for or want to view every item from a certain manufacturer.
The area to the right of the product navigation is where all our main content is displayed. The very top includes what’s called a “breadcrumb trail” and shows where you are in the structure of the website. There will always be a “HOME” followed by one or more other descriptions to where you’ve been; the last description is where you are currently.
To see how the breadcrumb trail works you can see at the top of this page you can see: “HOME: Help”
Once you’ve finished on this page try clicking a category to the left navigation pane (keep an eye on the breadcrumb trail and see how it relates to where you are and where you’ve been) then keep clicking through till you find yourself at an item page. To return to anywhere shown in that list simply click where you want to go.
Under the breadcrumb trail the title of the page you’re on followed by relating content is displayed. Let’s take a look at what happens when you browse through the items using the left navigation pane.
When you click any link you will notice the content of the page changes. You will see the breadcrumb trail and the page title change along with content relating to what you clicked.
If you click, for example, “Beds” you will see that the side navigation expands to give further options (short beds, modular beds, themed beds and misc beds), the breadcrumb trail will now show “HOME: Beds” and the page content gives a brief description followed by a featured item from each of the subcategories on the left (i.e. one short bed, one modular bed, one themed bed and one misc bed). Clicking the image will take you directly to that items page.
Keeping with the above example of clicking “Beds” you can now click one of the sub-categories, say “Short Beds”. This will update all the relevant content for that page (breadcrumb/title etc) and show small thumbnail pictures of each “Short Bed” we sell. Clicking one of these images will take you to its item page.
The content on the item page includes further information about the product (description, price, sizes etc) along with buttons you can click to buy the item. Let’s break the page down a little to make it clearer. The upper section of the page shows a picture of the item you’re looking at, clicking it or the smaller one below will show you any other images we have of the item. To the right of the item picture shows the price along with a button to buy item. Clicking this takes you to a secure payment page (more on this later). To under this, still on the right half of the page, you can see a grey box section with further options, including a link to display every item from the manufacturer. You can also email us about this product and ask us a question etc. Then specific details about that item can be seen with information about the item. If the item has accessories or options you can add them by using the box under the product description. This then shows you the cost of what you want along with another option to purchase those items via the secure methods. Below this section towards the end of the page there may be some small images of related items, clicking these takes you away from the current page and to that items specific page. Then at the bottom is just some customer information.
Lastly we have our footer, found at the very bottom of every page, linking to useful pages on our site you may find useful. Pages here are split into four sections; Company Info, Service and Help, Website Info and Customer Info.
When you click any of the “Buy Now” buttons on the site you will be taken through to a secure payment processing page. At present we’re using Google checkout. I’m sure you don’t need us to tell you about Google, but to reassure you of their security they use exactly the same encryption as any leading bank or financial institution. Google has grown to be a dominant financial force and are regulated by all necessary legal processes. It’s totally safe to shop online so long as you only ever enter card details on a secure page – this is a page with a padlock shown in the very bottom right of your browsers window (not the website). You can read more about internet security on our dedicated security page. In fact Google is so secure we don’t even see your card details directly.
Payment via Google Checkout is fast and easy. Firstly you be asked to create a Google account (if you don’t already have one), this takes seconds and is quicker and easier than most complicated shopping carts. It also gives you many benefits which you can read more about on the relevant Google page.
Then all you need to do is enter your payment details and your item will be paid for and the order will be processed. You will get an email (at the address your registered with Google) confirming the order details. We will also get an email meaning we can get on and process your order.
Everything on our site has the price of delivery included in the price. We hate sites that look cheap until you’ve spent several minutes registering with their shopping cart, only to find they then add tax and shipping. The price you see on the item page is the price you pay. Simple!
Smaller items will be delivered within a couple of days and larger furniture will show an estimated delivery timescale in the “Details” section on the item page. Some items are delivered direct from the manufacturers (such as bespoke items) and as such delivery is out of our direct control. We do however liaise closely with the manufacturers and make sure they get your order to you as quickly as possible.
As we say, our customer service doesn’t end at the checkout. We’re not happy until you’ve got your item and are happy. We’ll chase deliveries up, liaise with couriers for you and help get your items to you as best we can.
